James River Builders has been a family-owned and operated business since its founding in 1991. For over 30 years, we’ve taken pride in delivering quality craftsmanship and building lasting relationships with our clients. In 2020, our family was struck by tragedy when our beloved owner, Ty Denby, was taken from us far too soon.  One year later, his father, Kevin Denby, (the original founder) also passed away.  Determined to honor the Denby legacy and support our loyal team, his widow courageously ran the company for four years, ensuring the values Ty built the business on remained strong.

 

In 2024, Andrew “Drew” Knick, one of Ty’s best friends, stepped in to take ownership of the company. With more than 20 years of experience in construction and a deep personal connection to the family, Drew continues to lead James River Builders with the same care and commitment that defined Ty’s leadership. While Drew also serves as a firefighter in the local community, he dedicates his days off to continuing the legacy of his best friend, helping families rebuild their lives after tragedy strikes.

Drew’s passion for supporting others, whether through his work as a firefighter or as a builder, reflects the heart of who we are: a team dedicated to helping families turn challenges into new beginnings.
